Premier Su Tseng-Chang visited FRESH & FREQ Company to inspect frozen meat inventories

Reported by Tai Shang-Jung (戴上容), China Times. Premier Su Tseng-Chang visited FRESH & FREQ in Wugu District, New Taipei, on the 18th to inspect frozen meat inventories and receive a briefing from the Council of Agriculture. He stated that approximately 184 metric tons of meat were stored on-site, while nationwide inventory has reached 150,000 metric tons, assuring the public that food supplies were sufficient and that consumers could purchase with confidence.

He mentioned that President Tsai Ing-Wen inspected rice reserves yesterday, noting that supplies are sufficient to feed the entire population for two and a half years. Today, he inspected meat inventories, pointing out that this facility alone stores 184 metric tons of frozen meat, while total nationwide inventory has reached 150,000 metric tons.

Minister of the Council of Agriculture Chen Chi-Chung accompanied the inspection this morning and stated that domestic meat inventories remain stable, and with a well-established cold chain system, all products can be properly preserved. He added that although Taiwan’s overall food self-sufficiency rate remains at around 30%, key staple items are largely self-sufficient: rice and aquatic products exceed 100%, eggs are close to 100%, fruits and vegetables exceed 87%, and meat surpasses 70%.
